Package Details

Rajiv Gandhi National Park, which is the part of ‘Nilagiri Biosphere Reserve’, has been selected as one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO World Heritage Community. It is one of most popular National Parks in India. This park was declared the thirty seventh Project Tiger Tiger reserves of India in 1999. It was set up in 1955 as a wildlife sanctuary and later its area increased to 644 km. It was upgraded into a national park in 1988. Elevations of the park range is 2,254 to 3,150 ft. It is 50 km from the major city of Mysore and 219 km from the state capital Bengaluru. The park ranges the foothills of the Western Ghats spreading down the Brahmagiri hills and south towards Kerala state. It lies between the latitudes 12°15'37.69"N and longitudes 76°17'34.4"E. The park covers 248 sq mi located to the north-west of Bandipur National Park. The park has a healthy predator-prey ratio, with plenty of Tigers, Sambar deer, Bison, Chital (spotted deer), elephants and has rich forest cover, hills, small streams, waterfalls, valleys and lush green vegetation.

Itinerary Details

Safari Timing: 0600 – 0800 Hrs & 1500 – 1700 Hrs Every day throughout the Year (subject to weather conditions).
Safari Options:
1. MINI-BUS SAFARIS: Forest Department operates mini-bus safaris from the Veeranahosahalli early in the morning by 0600 Hrs (morning trip) and another trip at 1500 Hrs (Afternoon).
i. Ticket fare: Indian Rs.300/- Per Head and Foreign national Rs.1100/- Per Head

2. Jeep Safaris: Best and recommended option is Jeep Safaris which offer’s thrilling experience. It starts from Kabani River by 0600 Hrs (Morning) and 1500 Hrs (Afternoon).
i. Ticket fare: Indian Rs.1500/- Per Head and Foreign national Rs.2250/- Per Head

Note: The Safari ride will be approximately for 1 hour.

Best Time to Visit: February to June (wildlife viewing is much easier because the animals cluster around water sources)
Forest department may cancel the safari booking at last minute due to bad weather, heavy rains, less manpower or vehicles available. So better do spot bookings for safari after reaching any of below check post
a) South Check post (Main Entrance)– Kutta (if coming from Kabini / Coorg)
b) North Check post – Hunsur (if coming from Mysore/Bangalore)
